主谓一致（subject-verb agreement）是指动词在数上与主语相配：一个主语用单数动词，多于一个就用复数动词。短句里很容易做到，长句里却容易弄错，所以写报告、文章和长篇回答时特别重要。
它接在选择冠词之后，同属用语法把意思说清楚，因为两项技能都要先找出句子中心的名词。
怎么找出主语并匹配动词？
按以下顺序做。
- 找出动词。 圈起来。
- 在动词前问“谁或什么”。 那个词就是主语。
- 忽略多余的短语。 of the team、along with the coach、in the library 这类词不会改变主语。
- 匹配动词。 一个主语：is, has, does, goes。多于一个：are, have, do, go。
有些模式需要固定规则：
- Each, every, everyone, somebody 用单数动词。
- 用 and 连接的两个主语 用复数动词：Tea and coffee are available.
- There is / there are 跟后面的名词一致：There is a problem. There are two problems.
- 集体名词 如 team 或 class，当作一个整体时用单数动词：The class is ready.
例题详解
改正一致性：The results of the survey shows that each of the students prefer online quizzes.
第一步，第一个动词。 动词是 shows。问“谁或什么 shows？”
第二步，找出主语。 of the survey 是多余的。主语是 results。
第三步，匹配。 Results 是复数，所以动词是 show。
第四步，第二个动词。 动词是 prefer。问“谁或什么 prefers？”主语是 each，不是 students。
第五步，匹配。 Each 是单数，所以动词是 prefers。
第六步，重写。 The results of the survey show that each of the students prefers online quizzes.
要留意的错误
最常见的失误，是让紧挨着动词的那个名词决定动词。
错误句子： The quality of the photographs are excellent.
写的人看到动词旁边是 photographs，就选了复数。
改正： The quality of the photographs is excellent. 主语是 quality，是单数。划掉 of the photographs 就看得清楚：The quality is excellent.
相关的陷阱是 There is many reasons。there is 后面的名词是 reasons，所以要用 are。
