Will、must、should、may、might 和 could 都放在另一个动词前面,表示写的人对这句话有多大把握。
|---|---|---|---|
| 很高 | will, must | 确定,或有力的结论 | The shop will open at nine. The door is locked, so it must be closed. |
| 预期 | should, ought to | 合理的预期 | The parcel should arrive tomorrow. |
| 可能 | may, might, could | 有真实机会,但不确定 | It may rain later. She could be in the library. |
| 很低 | might not, could not | 存疑或不可能 | He might not finish in time. That could not be true. |
所有情态动词后面都接动词原形:must be、might go、should arrive。
The museum is full of people, so it is open. The sign says school groups arrive at ten, so the noise is loud.
证据有力,适合 must:The museum is full of people, so it must be open.
告示牌给了预期会吵的理由,但不是证明:so it might be loud 或 so it should be loud。
The museum is full of people, so it must be open. The sign says school groups arrive at ten, so it might be loud by then.
must 和 might 后面是 be,即动词原形。
The results are not on the website yet, so they will be late.
The results are not on the website yet, so they may be late. Water might boil at 100 °C at sea level Water boils at 100 °C at sea level.
She might to go、He can goes。
Her coat is on the chair and her bag is here, so she ___ be nearby. (must / might / will)
must。
2. 改错:It could to rain tomorrow.
It could rain tomorrow.
She might be busy. 或 She may not have seen it yet.
